Pupy y Los que Son Son
Pupy y Los que Son Son is the band of pianist and composer César "Pupy" Pedroso, which he started in 2001 after his long time with Los Van Van. The band strikes a balance between son and timba.
About the band
Pupy was Los Van Van's pianist for more than thirty years, and wrote songs such as Seis semanas and El buenagente there. In 2001 he started his own band. Its debut was on 4 October 2001 in Güines, in what was then Havana province.
- First album: Timba: The New Generation of Latin Music (2001) was recorded before Pupy left Los Van Van, with Changuito as a guest.
- Qué cosas tiene la vida (2002): the first album after his departure, with arrangements that stay close to the Cuban roots.
- Singers: among others Armando Cantero, Tirso Duarte (La voluminosa) and Pepe Gómez.
- Well-known songs: La voluminosa, Qué cosas tiene la vida and Vamos a gozar hasta fuera.
