Klimax
Klimax is the band of drummer and composer Giraldo Piloto, founded in 1995. The band is known for refined arrangements and clever, sometimes controversial lyrics.
About the band
Giraldo Piloto played in the Orquesta Tropicana from 1980 to 1987 and was then one of the founders of NG La Banda. For that band he wrote Me confunde ser esa mujer, his first big hit. With bassist Roberto Riverón, another founding member, he started Klimax.
The sound
Klimax sounds Cuban, with modernized influences from guaguancó, batá music and the whole history of Cuban pop. Reviewers compare the band to the Yellowjackets, Steely Dan and Earth, Wind & Fire.
- Singers: among others Carlos Calunga, a tenor with a very high range, and Leo Vera, Juan Carlos Hechevarría and Manuel Denis.
